About

The WVUM Alumni Association…this group…was formed to recognize the people of WVUM, and to keep the legacy going. Of course, it is also serves to keep in touch with dear friends.

Many of us who were a part of WVUM were also engaged and committed to other organizations as well. But there truly was a special bond that brought us all together and continues to keep the friendships going strong.

There has always been a lot of talent and creativity that has passed through those studio doors. Some of us took a different path, but a lot of us continued working in the industry. There have been WVUM alum who have played a role in a movie; some who have been part of a network morning news team; a few who have served as TV news anchors; and even one who Joe Namath tried to kiss on live television. We were always in demand.

WVUM afforded us opportunities that you don’t get at many other colleges and universities not at least until becoming an upperclassman. While we were gaining experiences and making memories, a lot of us were able to work professionally simultaneously…and a lot of that had to do with the respect that WVUM had from the local broadcast community because of how we conducted ourselves on such a high level of professionalism.

The 55+ years of broadcasting is a long time and things have changed a lot in radio, and the way the industry operates. WVUM has also gone through many changes over the years. And it is important to understand how valuable the station is to the University, to the student body, and to the local community.

It is why we have such great memories and experiences, and have developed these relationships that we can cherish…long after we leave the studio.

We invite everyone to share stories, photos, and history of your time with WVUM.
